TORONTO WILL PROUDLY HOST WORLD PRIDE IN 2014

It’s very exciting news that Toronto has been chosen as the host city for World Pride in 2014. An international showcase for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues, World Pride Toronto will feature three parades - a Trans March, a Dyke March, and Pride Parade, an opening ceremony and a closing ceremony, a human-rights conference, an AIDS candlelight vigil, festivals, cultural events including Canada Day and the US Independence Day celebrations, and many other activities.

World Pride began in Rome in 2000. The second event was scheduled to take place in Jerusalem in 2006 but was unfortunately cancelled due to unrest in the region. The next World Pride will be held in London in 2012, and in 2014 Toronto will be the host city. The timing couldn’t be more perfect with World Pride Toronto taking place at the same time as Toronto Pride Week in 2014. In addition to the World Pride events, the traditional Toronto Pride Week events will continue as usual.

Toronto’s Pride Week is a huge event, both in attendance and in economic terms. Last year over 1 million people attended and generated $136 million for Toronto’s purse, while only costing $4 million to put on. Organizers estimate that it will cost $10 million to host World Pride but that will more than be compensated by the amount of money that the event will generate. Estimates on how many will attend World Pride Toronto 2014 and how much money it will bring to Toronto are off the charts but conservative guess-timates have attendance at least at 1.25 million. Planning has already begun and it promises to be an exciting time for Torontonians and all of the attendees. Will you be participating?

Making Your Wedding Day about the Two of You

With all the stress and fuss that surrounds wedding planning these days, it’s hard to loose sight of what’s leading you down that aisle in the first place: LOVE. Many times wedding planners become de facto wedding counselors. One of the things I always like to remind couples is to spend time with one another not discussing the wedding. Continue to have ‘date nights’ where the relationship, not the wedding, takes centre stage.

Another important way to maintain your closeness is to make your wedding day about the two of you. Be sure to choose options that reflect you as a couple and bring you joy. These days anything goes at weddings—don’t get stuck on what is traditional and classic. Really take the time to create a unique experience that really shows your guests who you are as a couple. Those are the weddings people remember.

Your wedding day should be a day to look back on with affection—it should be a representation of your love. Remember to have fun, and even when the nerves take over be sure to remember you’re in this together and forever.

That is what’s leading you TO that wedding aisle in the first place.

Contact us today to start planning your special day.

Congratulations Jen and Angela!

The CN Tower

The CN Tower is one of Toronto’s, and Canada’s, most famous landmarks. Originally conceived by the Canadian National Railway as a large TV and Radio communication platform the CN Tower opened to the public in 1976. It maintains the record as the world’s tallest freestanding structure on land, standing at 554.3 meters (1,815 feet and 5 inches). In 1995 it was named one of the seven Modern Wonders of the World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Located in the heart of downtown, the CN tower is visited by over 2 million tourists a year. The elevator ride is an experience in and of itself. If anyone has ever read Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator by Roald Dahl you’ll know what I mean. Moving at over 20 feet per second the glass elevators shoot up the sides of the CN Tower getting you to the SkyPod (the look out level) in a matter of a minute or two.

The SkyPod level boasts a glass floor—a great photo opportunity as well as remarkable views of the city and beyond . On a clear day you can see for hundreds of miles in every direction—for those folks joining us from New York you may even see your hometown!

There are a few cafes at the CN Tower but only one restaurant: the world-renowned 360 Restaurant. The 360 restaurant rotates 360 degrees every 74 minutes offering spectacular views and an unparalleled dining experience. Known for its regional and market-fresh cuisine as well as for its award winning wine cellar (called the cellar in the sky).

Visit www.cntower.ca for more information on this remarkable structure.

Your I Do in Toronto representative can arrange for tickets and reservations at the 360 restaurant during your wedding trip. Contact us today.

Congratulations Thayer and Cindy!

Dear Katherine and Everton, Thank you for providing us with a wonderful and romantic wedding. We appreciate how you were very responsive to our requests, how you arrived early, and were happy to change venues for us since we wanted a beach ceremony. You made us feel comfortable (we were nervous) and had great suggestions about things we forgot. You were so friendly and kind. It couldn’t have been a more perfect experience.
